Scriptwriter and director Ajay Monga of ‘Fashion’ and ‘Corporate’ fame is all set to make his next film titled ‘Keel Muhaase’ based on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Interestingly, the film is inspired by actress Harleen Sethi’s battle with the hormonal disorder.
Confirming that he is indeed inspired by Harleen’s struggle, Ajay Monga told Mumbai Mirror, “After Harleen enlightened me, I deep-dived into it. A year ago, my daughter Simran was diagnosed with it as well. It is known to affect a lot of women, many of whom go into depression and some develop suicidal tendencies. In her early days, Harleen would panic ahead of auditions, fearful of sudden pimple outbreaks. She has now come out of it beautifully.”
PCOS affects a woman’s hormone levels. Women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. This hormone imbalance causes them to skip menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to get pregnant. It also causes sleeping, eating disorder, anxiety and depression. And if it goes untreated, it may cause complications like type 2 diabetes.
Sharing about her struggle, Harleen said that she was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 15. “I realised PCOS is more of a lifestyle-related ailment and worked on my diet, work-outs and mindset. I will be helping Ajay whenever he requires my guidance.” Harleen won’t be starring in this film.
Not just Harleen, even Sara Ali Khan has openly spoken about her struggle with PCOS which caused her to gain a lot of weight. Now, it has to be seen who Ajay casts in ‘Keel Muhaase’. The film will go on floors in May.
